An Incredible Event to Celebrate an Incredible Milestone

A great record breaking weekend for the Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series in Long Beach. There were 4,364 players participating, smashing the previous attendance record of 2,223 held by Magic: The Gathering since 2010 in Madrid, Spain.

El Segundo, CA - March 27, 2012 - Thousands of Duelists from the U.S., and around the world, jammed the Long Beach Convention Center this past weekend with one goal in mind: winning the big trophy at the historic 100th Yu-Gi-Oh! CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES (YCS) held in Long Beach, CA. However, after an eventful weekend of camaraderie and Dueling, it was the strategic play and craftiness of Henderson (Las Vegas), Nevada's Michael Balan that let him emerge victorious over the competition at the premier-level Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME event, hosted by trading card game powerhouse, Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. (Konami).Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series (YCS)

During the two-day event, YCS Long Beach burst with enthusiastic Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Duelists young and old, all eager to put their Decks and strategies to the ultimate test. Round after Round was filled with expert play and fierce competition. During Sunday's playoff Rounds, the Duels got more intense as the day progressed and the Final Round was within sight. By the end of the day it was Balan versus Simon He from Manchester, United Kingdom at the Final Round table, battling for the title of Champion.

He brought his powerful Dino-Rabbit Deck to the table as Balan showcased his lethal Dark World Deck. Both competitors played masterfully, each displaying a solid knowledge and passion for the game but at the end of the Final Round it was Balan who was able to celebrate the win and be named YCS Champion of this milestone event. He won an Ultra Rare Blood Mefist YCS Prize Card, and an invitation to the 2012 World Championship Qualifier and more fabulous prizes.

Jesse Dean Kotton (Toronto, ON, Canada) wins the Dragon Duel Sunday EventAdditionally, on Saturday, Brian Ahle (Lebanon, Illinois) won the Dragon Duel (for Duelists born 1999 or later) adeptly outplaying his Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG peers to earn a special Dragon Duel Champion's Medal, a Super Rare version of the Blood Mefist YCS prize card, a 2012 Regional Game Mat, a Dragon Duel T-Shirt, and an invitation to his region's 2012 Dragon Duel World Championship Qualifier, where he can earn an invitation to the inaugural Dragon Duel World Championship to be played at the Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship to be held on August 11-12 in Tokyo, Japan. On Sunday, Jesse Dean Kotton (Toronto, ON, Canada) earned the same honors.

Michael Balan Wins Biggest TCG Event in YCS History

Michael Balan, playing his Dark World Deck, has won the biggest TCG tournament in history, the 100th Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series event in Long Beach, CA USA, coming out on top of over 4300 other Duelists!

Balan previously defeated Joseph Giorlando's Skill Drain HERO Deck in the Semi-Finals, and Simon He defeated Gabriel Perezís Chaos Piper Deck.

Younger Players Can Compete in Dragon Duel

El Segundo, CA - March 23, 2012Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series (YCS) - Hundreds of Duelists representing countries from South America and beyond are readying their Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME (TCG) Decks and packing their suitcases as they prepare for the 2012 Yu-Gi-Oh! CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES (YCS) Lima, Peru. Competitive Duelists and aspiring champions are to compete at the YCS Lima, Peru between March 31st - April 1st at the premier-level Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG event from Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. (Konami).

The main event will pit Duelists in a series of intense head-to-head competitions over the course of two days. The First Rounds on Saturday will give players an opportunity to demonstrate their tried and true game strategies; each one hoping that they've found the perfect combination to get them to the Final Round on Sunday and the opportunity to Duel for the title of YCS Lima Champion.

Duelists will definitely want to pre-register for the YCS Lima Main Event from 3:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 30th as those players upon pre-registering and submitting a Deck list will receive an event exclusive YCS Token Card! Regular registration will begin promptly at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 31st. Upon registering, all Duelists will receive three Order of Chaos booster packs for participating in Konami's YCS Lima.

Round One will start at 10:00 a.m. and the Top 16 or 32 YCS finishers (depending on attendance) will earn invitations to participate in the 2012 World Championship Qualifier - Continental, of their region.

In addition, Konami will once again hold a Dragon Duel for the younger set (for Duelists born 1999 or later). The top four finishers in the Dragon Duel events will receive a special Dragon Duel Champion's Medal, a 2012 Regional Game Mat, a Card Binder, and an invitation to their regions' 2012 Dragon Duel World Championship Qualifier - Continental, where they can earn an invitation to the inaugural Dragon Duel World Championship to be played at the Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship this summer.

Duelists can also participate in a wide variety of fun and challenging Public Events to push their Dueling skills to the limit! Accompanying the Main Event, Konami will be conducting a full range of Public Events such as Regional Qualifiers, 3 vs. 3 Team Dueling, ATTACK OF THE GIANT CARD!!, Classic Drafts, Dawn of the Xyz Starter Tournaments, Pegasus Challenges, Retro Drafts and Win-A-Mats.

At YCS Lima, Konami will also host new single-elimination Sealed Deck Tournaments! This new tournament format, the perfect solution for those who don't have a Deck handy, will feature the recently released Dragons Collide Structure Deck and each Sealed Deck Tournament winner will get an exclusive Dragons Collide Structure Deck Game Mat! For a S/.40 entry fee, each player will receive a sealed Dragons Collide Structure Deck and is required to use those cards in the box as their Deck for that event. These Sealed Deck Tournaments are sure to draw many participants and spectators!

The Main Event winner, the two runners-up and the winners of Sunday's two Public Event playoffs will each be awarded a YCS prize card. The Main Event winner will take home an Ultra Rare version of the Blood Mefist prize card, with the other winners bringing home Super Rare versions.

Thousands of Passionate Duelists to Participate in Landmark Premier-Level Event

El Segundo, CA - March 14, 2012Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series (YCS) - Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. (Konami), the company behind the global phenomenon Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME (TCG), is inviting all Duelists to the Long Beach Convention Center on March 24th-25th to participate in the historic 100th Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series (YCS) and the newly-launched Dragon Duel Championships, created exclusively for Duelists aged 12 & under.

The Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series is a traveling premier-level Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG event that makes tour stops around the world. The 100th YCS is expected to pack the convention center with several thousand Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG players with skill levels ranging from determined beginner to advanced aficionados.

To commemorate the 100th YCS, Konami has commissioned two new event-specific game mats: one for all participants and one for those players who reach the Top 32. In addition, the two Dragon Duel winners will receive a bonus prize: a Super Rare Blood Mefist Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series Prize Card. The masterful winner of the YCS will be awarded a trophy specially designed to memorialize the 100th event. For those Duelists ready to take on the big boys, there will be a Bounty Event where attendees can have a chance to go head-to-head with members of Konami's Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG team for bragging rights and an assortment of cool prizing.

Duelists in the main event will be ready for a rigorous two days of head-to-head competition. Beginning with the First Round on Saturday, players will be showing off their A game, and for the chance to advance to the Final Rounds on Sunday and the opportunity to Duel for the title of Champion. Duelists can also participate in a wide variety of fun and challenging Public Events to push their Dueling skills to the limit! For the first time ever at a YCS event, Konami will be operating a green screen camera where Duelists and attendees can pose for their own Yu-Gi-Oh! Cossy ID card or choose from several backgrounds to make an official Token card!

Pre-registration for YCS Long Beach will run from 1:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 23rd and will begin again promptly at 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 24th. Upon registering, Duelists will receive five Order of Chaos booster packs for participating in Konami's YCS Long Beach.

4Kids Entertainment, Asatsu-DK and TV Tokyo Settle Yu-Gi-Oh! Litigation

Settlement agreement recognizes that the Yu-Gi-Oh! agreement among 4Kids, ADK and TV Tokyo is in full force..

NEW YORK, Mar 01, 2012 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- 4Kids Entertainment, Inc., the global children's entertainment and merchandise licensing company, and Asatsu-DK Inc. ("ADK") and TV Tokyo, announced today that they have reached a settlement of the lawsuit brought against 4Kids by ADK and TV Tokyo, the licensors of the Yu-Gi-Oh! property.

4Kids Entertainment, Inc.The settlement agreement recognizes that the Yu-Gi-Oh! agreement among 4Kids, ADK and TV Tokyo is in full force and effect with 4Kids continuing to serve as the exclusive licensing agent for the merchandise licensing, television broadcast and home video rights to the Yu-Gi-Oh! property throughout the world outside of Asia.

The settlement agreement does not constitute an admission by any party of any liability or fault but rather reflects the decision by the parties to work together amicably for the continued success of the Yu-Gi-Oh! property.
