4Kids Confirms Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's American Fall Premiere

In a conference call with analysts this week, 4Kids Entertainment CEO Al Kahn revealed that the company plans to begin airing Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's in the U.S. this fall. This new Yu-Gi-Oh! series is premiering on Japanese television in April. The property is being launched in TCG form in Japan this month. 
The plot of the new series revolves around the quest to collect five all-powerful dragon cards. The Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's name stands for Yu-Gi-Oh! Five Duel Scoop. Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's, the latest television series in the manga, card game, and anime franchise which will premiere in Japan on April 2, 2008. Set several decades after the adventures of Yūgi Mutō (the protagonist of the original Yu-Gi-Oh! story), Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's will focus on a new protagonist named Yūsei Fudō. Yūsei is a duelist who operates a red motorcycle-like D-Wheel in a new stadium game called Riding Duel.
Kahn told analysts that he expects the new series to help keep the Yu-Gi-Oh! property fresh and provide new licensing opportunities.
