Konami Announces Duelist Pack - Kaiba - Posted Tuesday, 3/16/2010 by PPNSteve
Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. Brings Back Yugi's Greatest Rival with Duelist Pack - Kaiba -, Yu-Gi-Oh TRADING CARD GAME'S (TCG) Latest Release..
Expanded 40-card Set Features the Self-Proclaimed "World's Greatest Duelist"
EL SEGUNDO, Calif. - March 15, 2010) - The rivalry just amped up to a new level with Duelist Pack - Kaiba -. One of the most recognizable characters from any of the Yu-Gi-Oh! animated series, Seto Kaiba was the primary adversary (and sometimes ally!) of Yugi Muto in the original Yu-Gi-Oh! series.
Now, Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. (KDE) has gathered many of Kaiba's best cards into the latest Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME (TCG) release. Duelists can now collect the most famous - and infamous - cards ever used by Kaiba, with some all-new never before seen twists. Duelist Pack - Kaiba - will fly off retail and hobby store shelves on April 20, 2010.
With 40 cards to collect and Duel with, Duelist Pack - Kaiba - is the largest Duelist Pack set to date. Duelist Pack - Kaiba - features a brand-new Blue-Eyes White Dragon Effect Monster, available for the first time! There are also five Ultimate Rare versions of Kaiba's most foreboding - and forbidden - cards, including Chaos Emperor Dragon - Envoy of the End, Cyber Jar, and Pot of Greed. And some cards feature brand-new artwork, including XYZ-Dragon Cannon and Vorse Raider!
As if those cards weren't enough to win any Duel, KDE has also dropped in two of the biggest monsters ever created: Blue-Eyes ULTIMATE DRAGON and Dragon Master Knight. Duelists will revel in the chance to get popular but hard-to-find cards like Fiend's Sanctuary and the alternate artwork La Jinn the Mystical Genie of the Lamp. Additionally, each pack also contains a tip card to help you re-live some of Kaiba's greatest Dueling moments. Duelist Pack - Kaiba - will be sold for a MSRP of $1.99 per booster pack.

5D's TCG Absolute Powerforce Special Edition Release Date Posted Thursday, 3/11/2010 by PPNSteve
Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's Trading Card Game Absolute Powerforce Special Edition will be made available nationwide March 30th, 2010
Special Edition Features Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon and Dandylion
El Segundo, CA March 10, 2010 - Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. (KDE) today announced it will release Absolute Powerforce Special Edition with Super Rare copies of Dandylion and Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon to retail and hobby outlets on March 30.
The Absolute Powerforce Special Edition (MSRP $9.99 per box) includes three Absolute Powerforce booster packs and one Super Rare variant card. Absolute Powerforce Special Edition makes it easy for Duelists to get their own Super Rare copies of Dandylion and Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon. These popular monsters have only been available as magazine subscription promotional cards, and have never been available in stores - until now!
The hyper-cute Plant monster, Dandylion first appeared in Jaden's Deck on the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX animated series. The power of Dandylion creates Fluff Tokens whenever it goes to the Graveyard - which any Duelist can use to Summon even stronger monsters. Until recently, Dandylion was considered so powerful that it was a Limited Card, so only one copy per Deck was allowed. However, beginning on March 1, restrictions on Dandylion were eased slightly, and now two copies are allowed. Veteran Duelists who use Decks like Monarchs or Plants are already making plans for their second Dandylion but Dandylion is so versatile that it works well in many Decks.
Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon is the latest massive behemoth in a long and proud tradition of "Red-Eyes" Dragon monsters, and is the cornerstone of today's Dragon Decks! The power of this Dragon comes from its ability to be Summoned easily, and then Summon other Dragons just as easily. A powerful force on its own, this titan of terror can quickly build up an entire Dragon army. A must-have card for any fan of the many fantastic Dragons in the Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME!
In addition to one of these two variant cards, each Absolute Powerforce Special Edition includes three packs of the namesake booster set. Five unbelievable Synchro Monsters anchor the Absolute Powerforce 100-card set, including new trump cards used by Yusei and Jack, as well as the amazing new Sun & Moon Dragons of Rex Goodwin. Absolute Powerforce also includes a brand new X-Saber Synchro Monster and as an added bonus for long-time Duelists, The Gravekeepers return - having first debuted in 2003.
The Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's animated series can be seen in the United States Monday through Saturday on Cartoon Network. The original Yu-Gi-Oh! animated series can be seen Saturday mornings on TheCW4Kids block. For more information on Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc., the Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME or the Absolute Powerforce Special Edition, please visit www.yugioh-card.com or call 310-220-8630.

Upper Deck Forced to Settle with Konami Posted Wednesday, 2/3/2010 by PPNSteve
UPPER DECK FORCED TO SETTLE WITH KONAMI DIGITAL ENTERTAINMENT, INC. AFTER ADMITTING TO COUNTERFEITING HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME CARDS
The Upper Deck Company permanently barred from acting as an authorized distributor of the Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME
El Segundo, CA - February 3, 2010 - Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. (KDE) is pleased to announce that it has resolved its litigation against The Upper Deck Company (Upper Deck), KDE's former distributor of its immensely popular Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME (TCG). The lawsuit was settled to Konami's satisfaction following opening statements during the trial in Federal Court in Los Angeles (Ca, USA) on January 26, 2010.
"At this point, Upper Deck doesn't have a lot of Life Points. We're talking about behavior that, from a defense attorney's standpoint, I can't defend and I am not going to defend," noted attorney Richard Howell, of Rutan & Tucker, who represented The Upper Deck Company during the trial. "I'm here defending a counterfeiter. And now I have to deal with that issue."
"We are extremely pleased with the successful resolution of our case against Upper Deck," said Kazumi Kitaue, Chairman of KDE. "Konami's goal is and has been to protect Duelists from counterfeit Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG cards and to protect the integrity of the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG. This goal was achieved when Upper Deck was prohibited for eternity from distributing counterfeit Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG cards and from holding itself out as the authorized distributor of the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG."
"This entire situation came as a huge shock to us. As a company that has based their entire business model on producing authentic entertainment and sports licensed products, Upper Deck went against their very core beliefs by counterfeiting Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Cards," commented KDE's Vice President of Card Business Yumi Hoashi. "It was very disheartening to learn that a trusted business partner would take these actions to dupe us and the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG community."
The litigation began in October 2008, when KDE discovered that counterfeit cards from the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG were being sold in Toys R Us stores by a sub-distributor for Upper Deck. KDE filed suit, and the sub-distributor told KDE that the counterfeit cards were supplied by Upper Deck.
"As a leading company in this card industry, Upper Deck should have known more than well that counterfeit activities would irreparably harm the trust of Duelists and the integrity of the Yu-Gi-Oh! brand," said KDE's Hoashi. Upper Deck initially denied those charges and issued press releases announcing that any suggestion that Upper Deck would be involved in counterfeiting activity is "absurd."
Failing to own up to its actions, Upper Deck sent out a press release on January 29, 2010 stating its satisfaction with the settlement and how the judge ruled against KDE in several areas. The ruling that United States District Judge Valerie Baker Fairbank made on December 23, 2009 was simple. She ruled that Upper Deck violated trademark, copyright and unfair competition laws by counterfeiting Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG cards.
Discovery in the lawsuit revealed that Upper Deck had counterfeited Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG cards, and that it took extensive steps to cover-up that activity. The cover-up included a meeting in the office of Upper Deck's chairman, in which he and at least one other Upper Deck employee compared samples of authentic Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG cards against fakes made by Upper Deck, and shredded the samples in the chairman's office, as well as an e-mail from an employee of Upper Deck to other employees asking to provide her information how to obtain Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG security foils "in secrecy."
Following almost one full year of court proceedings, Upper Deck finally admitted to having printed in China and importing to the U.S. hundreds of thousands of bogus Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG cards.
Mr. Howell of Rutan & Tucker noted in the opening statement to the jury: "The behavior is still undeniably wrong. And I am in here, as counsel for the two defendants, asking you to hold my clients accountable for that behavior; asking you to hold my clients responsible for this conduct that there is no dispute, and there was no disputing even before this case started today, that it was wrong."
KDE announced in mid-December 2008 that it would assume responsibility for the distribution of its Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG in territories outside of Asia. As the Court's recent ruling confirms, KDE's decision was due to Upper Deck's involvement in printing and distributing counterfeit Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG cards.

Yu-Gi-Oh! Online Service Gets a Makeover Posted Wednesday, 2/3/2010 by PPNSteve
Konami Revamps Its Popular Yu-Gi-Oh! Online Service for March 2010 Release
Yu-Gi-Oh! ONLINE Accelerates with the Yu-Gi-Oh! ONLINE DUEL ACCELERATOR which is due in March 2010!
El Segundo, CA - February 2, 2010 - Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc, (KDE) is pleased to announce a massive product upgrade for its ever-popular Yu-Gi-Oh!™ ONLINE game, with the advent of Yu-Gi-Oh! ONLINE DUEL ACCELERATOR which will be released for the PC in March 2010.
As KDE's Yu-Gi-Oh! ONLINE enters its fifth year, the publisher added a wealth of new elements, cards and systems for online Duelists. Yu-Gi-Oh! ONLINE DUEL ACCELERATOR provides exciting Duels with the latest characters from the Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's TV series, and will also feature old favorites such as Yugi, Kaiba, Jaden and Princeton.
Players are invited to create 3D avatars for use in the game, and KDE has enhanced the basic mechanics of online Dueling, too. The most Duelist-friendly change is that Duels will now be played at no cost. Players can buy BOOSTERPASS points to add new cards to their Decks, and these can be acquired by credit card or PayPal. In this new version of Yu-Gi-Oh! ONLINE, players will not only be able to trade cards with other players but also lend cards to their friends and Dueling team members.
Konami has opened free Beta trials of Yu-Gi-Oh! ONLINE DUEL ACCELERATOR now, which will continue until the end of February. It can be found at www.yugioh-online.net, and will run alongside the existing Yu-Gi-Oh! ONLINE DUEL EVOLUTION service, which will come to an end when Yu-Gi-Oh! ONLINE DUEL ACCELERATOR launches in March.
